The 2005 GasDash was run in relatively mild conditions compared with previous years.  Bike numbers were up and car numbers were down (as a result of rule changes requiring cars to comply with CAMS rules).

The Gascoyne Dash comprised a challenging 185 km circuit on Bidgemia Station, just north of Gascoyne Junction, followed by a 316 km dash down the Lyons and Gascoyne dry riverbeds into the coastal town of Carnarvon.

The Car/Buggy category was won by long time favourite, Peter Jecks.  Vernon Strange completed his second win in the Bike category.
