		Dakar Rally Dakar started in 1979 as the Paris-Dakar Rally, the 2008 Edition was due to run from Lisbon to Dakar but was cancelled amid credible terrorism threats to the safety of competitors and officials. This 16 day event is the most famous of the "Raids" and is now run in Chile and Argentina.
		Pampas Rally The Pampas was started in 1998 but has been defunct since the 2007 event. The Rally Por Las Pampas was the third round of the FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup and took competitors from southern Argentina to the northern tip of Chile via a route of more than 4,000 kilometers over nine days. Also known as the Patagonia-Atacama, the Rally Por Las Pampas was the basis for the shift of the Dakar to the South American continent.
