Australian Off Road
Championship The AORC started in 1981 and comprises five events, taking in Western Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. All AORC events are designated as 'Long Course', conducted on a circuit no less than 15 kilometers in length. There are nine different classes of competition in off road racing, but only eight of these qualify for the AORC. Vehicles range from purpose built buggies with engine up to 6000cc to modified 4WD vehicles. |

Finke Desert Race The Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race is an off road, multi-terrain, two day race in the Northern Territory through desert country from Alice Springs to Aputula Community (Finke) and return. The race crosses the Finke River, believed to be the oldest river in the world, and is held each year in June. Encompassing about 230 kilometers each way, the Finke Desert Race is a gruelling and tough event that has claims to being Australia's premier off road race. |

Gascoyne
Dash A 500 kilometer, two day off road race over everchanging outback terrain from rough, rocky traverses to sandy riverbed; from steep hills to fast station tracks; from sand dunes to tough mountain ranges in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The flooding of the river dramatically changes the nature of the Day 2 course. |
