Australian Off Road Racing Championship
2006

The Pines Enduro is organised and promoted by the
Millicent Sand Buggy Club and has been run successfully since 1980 in
the Mt Burr and Tantanoola pine forests close to Millicent and about
50kms from Mount Gambier. The Enduro will be contested over two
days of fierce racing. Scrutineering is on Friday night at the
Millicent showgrounds which will give the public an up close view of
competing vehicles, and an opportunity to have a chat with the off road
drivers.
The Prologue track is at the Teagle Excavations
limestone quarry, on the city limits of Millicent. Each crew will
race one lap of a very spectacular track to determine their starting
position in class for Sunday's main race. The spectator area offers
brilliant viewing of over 90% of the track, and action only meters away.
After all vehicles have completed the Prologue the
fastest two competitors from each Class will race together in a wheel to
wheel battle for prize money in the "Dash for Cash".
The main race will take place in the Tantanoola pine
forest on Sunday morning. The 400km race is through the pine
plantations on dirt roads, sandy tracks, and a variety of other
surfaces. A unique feature of the Pines Enduro is that there is NO
DUST. Most if not all of the other national rounds usually have a
bad dust problem. The Pines can honestly be described as having no
dust and plenty of wide areas to pass slower cars. The 44
kilometre track offers excellent passing opportunities making racing
very exciting with the lead usually changing among the fastest drivers.
The Pines Enduro is also a Round of the South
Australian Off Road Championship.
